Coronavirus - COVID-19 - Call to Prayer

‘On the brink of this second lockdown we might understandably feel helpless, anxious and vulnerable.’ says the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, ‘… we do what we can to halt the spread of this virus – but we can still feel powerless. Is there anything else we can do? Really do?  Yes. Yes there is. We can pray. Prayer is my first response when I feel out of my depth, when I need help, when I am worried, when I am concerned for those I love... Prayer changes things.'

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York, in consultation with the House of Bishops, have invited every Christian and person of good will to pray at 6pm every day for the period of this present Lockdown.

The Archbishops have provided resources in the form of different styles of written prayers with a particular thematic focus for prayer each day.

In addition, here is a direct link to a simple, printable prayer booklet - Prayer Booklet.

This material is intended simply as one tool to enable participation - the hope is that individuals and worshipping communities make these times of prayer their own. There is no desire to be directive in this – rather simply to encourage all to be united in Prayer for the Nation.

May God bless you and your family as we navigate these challenging times.
