What's new? Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day

Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day

You may wish to join in this Act of Remembrance on either or both days...

Act of Remembrance

Let us commemorate and commend to the loving memory of our heavenly Father, the shepherd of souls, the giver of life everlasting, those who have died for our country in war; those whom we knew and whose memory we treasure, and all who have lived and died in the service of mankind.

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

And all repeat:

We will remember them.

2 minute silence

The Kohima Epitaph:

When you go home tell them of us and say: for your tomorrow, we gave our today.

Remember, O Lord, all Your servants who we commend in the silence of our hearts. Those whose names are inscribed on Memorials and all our Land, Sea and Air forces who laid down their lives in the cause of freedom and justice. In that place of light where sorrow and mourning are no more, grant them rest. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Your son, our Lord. Amen.

In memory of those who made the supreme sacrifice, make us better people and give peace in our time, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

May God grant to the living, grace; to the departed, rest; to the Church, the Queen, the Commonwealth, and all mankind, peace and concord; and to us and all His servants, life everlasting. And the blessing of God almighty, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, come down upon us and remain with us always. Amen.
